Shang Palace

I ate the lunch dim sum yumcha set for 3 people to my fill. Dim sum is refillable. There are so many that I can't refill!
I also added a side dish, and the price was very good with the 25% Shangri-La member discount and 25% discount for hotel guests.

So, overall, I had a mixed experience at this authentic Chinese restaurant. The beef tenderloin was a little chewy, and the deep-fried tempura had too much batter. However, the sesame prawn toast was a nice surprise, and the noodles, fried rice, spicy Tiger prawns, and crab were absolutely amazing! Oh, and let's not forget about the jasmine tea. It was so light and refreshing along with the custard dessert, just the perfect ending to the meal. And to top it off, the tea master was really friendly too! Plus, the server JC was helpful in explaining the dishes and made the dining experience even better. Overall, it's worth a visit for the delicious food, pleasant tea, and great service!

First of all, very kind and well prepared staff of restaurants made our lunch happy. The food was excellent. I strongly recommend visiting this restaurant.

I would like to commend deny for being so nice and accomodating… he made our experience in our day of our anniversarry so nice…. The service is slow but the staff are so nice…

Upon entering the place, we were greeted warmly. We were served crackers which were stale. Instead of crunchy it was rubbery which gives the restaurant a bad impression. I've been served crunchy crackers at much less expensive restaurant, not to mention this is a well known restaurant and in Shangri-la hotel. Maybe Shangri-la should reconsider other names of restaurant that can serve better food and service. I had no idea how fresh this could be. Then the lady gave us a tea demo which was interesting. Ordered XiaoLongBao, Claypot seabass, white chicken, mapo tofu, peking duck, chicken herbal soup. Wanted to have Long Jing tea which was in the menu but not available. Peking duck and white chicken is alright. The soup definitely was not boiled upto 12hrs, a little bit of chicken chunk, then the others was mushroom, a little of cordyceps flowers and one scallop unsure if it was hokkaido dried scallop. Overall, more of mushroom flavour than chicken herbal soup. Maybe they should remove the word 'herbal' as that is not what a herbal soup should taste. It lacks aroma from cordyceps flower. Peking chicken was crispy which turns out the only dish that was good. We had one the rice shared, and we aren't provided fork and spoon because we're eating on a plate instead of the bowl. Some might say its a fine dining, maybe they should visit Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen in Dubai, then you realise what is truly fine dining and real good food. One thing I realise, the people will tell you thank you without having eye contact which does seem rude. Is it worth the money for the food, no. More for the atmosphere and tea dance which was interesting.

The restaurant has great ambience. Service and staff were great too. I'm vegetarian and allergic to Gluten. I loved that they have a wide variety for people with allergies. I ordered mushroom soup and tofu pot. The soup was very standard, nothing special about it, but that tofu pot was really good.

I was disapointed, I paid 1296 aed and it started by a rude young lady in a red dress, food wasnt what I expected but decent, I waited 20 minutes for a drink and 30 minutes for the appetizer, I was even more disapointed when another group arrived and they were served within 5 minutes. This is the great shangrali hotel. I stayed in shangri li all over the world and loved all of my experiences.

I called today at 3: 26pm to ask if they were open. The female receptionist answered and said they had just finished their buffet lunch but that they were open for a la carte order.

We made our way to the restaurant and they were closed. I tried calling again on the same number at 3: 51pm but no one answered. I don’t understand what happened but I know it was deeply unprofessional to waste our time like this.

Unforgettable place of 2022.i celebrated my birthday there? Amazing place to dine in cold days, we ate outdoors. Staffs are informative & knows well the food they are serving. Thank u for celebrating with us

Excellent service and ambience but surprisingly mediocre food compared to all Shang Palaces i've been to. Hot & sour soup had a strange non -Chinese taste to it and dimsums tasted like they were reheated. Disappointed but will give them another try when I am back.

Very disappointing.
1. Presentation: when we handed out the menus, they were worn out and had folds and creases everywhere. Not a great first impression.
2. Service: there was one nice waiter who helped us with the food selection but that was about it. We ordered 3 meals including a non-spicy kids version. Another waiter gave each of us the wrong food not even asking who had ordered what (the kids ended up biting into the spicy-version). After having finished our food, we had to wait for a long time and ask two waiters to clear our used plates as we wanted to look into the desert options.
3. Quality of the meal: only one meal was good, the other ones were either drenched with salty soya sauce or just bland. The noodles with duck special had tiny sausage like chunks, not what we would define as duck. I couldn’t even tell if it was duck, it might have been any other meat and I wouldn’t have realized because it was cut so small. A huge disappointment and definitely overpriced for what you get.

As we entered the room, we were amazed, the room looked gorgeous. However, things took a slight turn when we received our menu: the cover was ruined. Furthermore, there was a waitress who was very rude to us and didn’t pay attention to us. To add to that, they didn’t clear out the dirty dishes on our table. The noodles we ordered were said to be with duck but when we got our order it had loads of sauce -which hadn’t been said in the menu b) there were tiny pieces of duck which was extremely disappointing. After a gruelling 15 minutes of waiting, we called a waiter and asked them about our order of a sesame cheesecake. When the dish came, we were very excited, (we had very high hopes) we received a tiny cake that tasted like oats.

Authentic Chinese. I loved the dim sums and I was pleasantly surprised how colourful they were. Sadly it was very hard to get a reservation here again, especially for the lunch dim sums. The braised aubergine was great as well.

Food is not tasty. You can taste powder smell in dimsum. Also service is very poor.
We couldn't have lunch manu properly as well. Only 4 or 5 dishes came (manager said it's all we can have.) and it wasn't hot but cold. After finishing lunch, they served some more dishes and they said it's remaining. So we recognized something wrong. Of caurse we didn't eat because we were very angry and the remainings were also not tasty. They discounted 25% and we paied 150 dirhams instead of 198 but it worth 15 dirhams or less.

Too bad. Expensive cost, cold food and waiting for food. After finishing the dessert, main dishes were served (Fish, Noodle,) We even thought we was discriminated. (they give us 25% discount but the feeling was not good)

DimSum Brunch at Shang Palace @shangpalace @shangrilaabudhabi!

The DimSum brunch is a fantastic choice if you are an Asian/Chinese food lover. This restaurant has won many awards in that category too, and why not, the food, ambience, service and hospitality is definitely worth the recognition!

We loved the deep fried prawn toast appetizer the most and repeated the order twice

Lobster dim sum, Steamed prawn dim-sums were our favorites too!

The egg fried wasn’t too great independently but it went so well with the stir fried fish and sweet & sour chicken.

The dessert options were very limited, but to be frank, by the time we had all these dishes we really didn’t bother too much about the dessert and just opted for a mango smoothie and ended the brunch, well on a sweet note!

Booked in advance for lunch and they had a dim sum lunch deal (start from ~AED138) which we took on. There were steamed dim sum, noodle, claypot rice, steamed bun, desserts etc in the package. Food was delicious, authentic and service was impeccable. We had the Golden Cricle membership to get some discount, overall highly recommended and would come back again!

Liked the place but for i was little disappointed as there no chicken drumsticks or chicken Manchuriam as this dishes are heart of Chinese restaurant

The food was fantastic. The servers were all kind and accommodating especially Jelyn. It's worth every penny. Will come and visit soon.

It was a clean and comfortable atmosphere. The service was good.
If it is difficult to order, I recommend you to get a recommendation from the waiter in charge. I had some cray pots this time.hope to visit here

Very disappointed on new year’s dim sum lunch.

Been there few times but this time the food quality is below average!

the beef short ribs was lukewarm, very salty, full of sauce which is a sign of non freshness. Little Baobao was not freshly made and steamed from frozen, the meat juicy was leaked.
We waited long time for each dish to come and some orders never even came. After 2.5hours, we were half full and decided to leave!

Very disappointed with the meal here. Came with the family and the experience was very disappointing. Food was very bad, the rice was very poor and daughter is vegetarian, they only had two veg options which only one came to the table. We’ve paid a lot for bad service and very poor food. Was very excited then was very disappointed.

Great food and excellent staff. Baz (sorry if the name is wrong, the food manager) and Queenie are fantastic.

Worst dining experience ever. Nothing in common with any authentic Chinese cuisine. Tasteless food, everything soaked in soya sauce no matter if it’s duck or lamb or cabbage. Simplest presentation of the food. Cheapest disposable job-sticks. Staff has an excuse for everything. Noisy place on Fridays with some busy buffet going on next door. Absolutely unromantic with the charm of a street food diner, both indoors and outdoors. Only thing that's five star here is the price.

From the top 5 Chinese restaurant in Abu Dhabi. Really good price and delicious food, will come back again ^^. I hope the will add more options for dim sum because they have the same menu for a long time.

Absolutely fabulous brunch with unlimited consumption for the best price to value in the city. If you like dim sum dumplings like I do it’s highly recommended. I still feel the taste in my mouth.

Went there for Chinese New Year, and it was a set menu. Unfortunately it took about 50min to get a cold starter and before any of the food came out. This couple with the fact that they ran out of 2 of the dishes made for a rather unpleasant experience.
Taste wise the food is pretty authentic, but the experience left a sour taste in our mouths.

Exceptional service. Very courteous staff and over all a great place to dine.

The food is easy on the pallet and at the same time maintains the traditional flavours.

If the tea master is at work, do try their traditional tea.

Nice dinner at this restaurant at Shangri La Hotel. Warm atmosphere and kind personnel to serve. They welcomed us with a white tea taste before looking at the menu. Food is delicious with the best chinese dumplings I ever had. A special thank you to Mr. Alish that warmly attended us during our last day stay at the hotel.

I went to Shang Palace for the dim sum brunch priced at 115 AED which was for food only.
There are not many places for good dim sum in Abu Dhabi. Shang Palace is part of the literal "handful" to go to.

The food was good - we tried many dishes and my favourites were the
? Bbq buns and
? Sea bass.

We were told the coffee pao we ordered for dessert would be egg tarts instead, which then turned out to be a plate of fruit (no pao or tarts).

However, our lovely waiter said I could grab a dessert item from the Sofra brunch.

The roasted duck is delicious. Not impressed with the seafood fried rice taste and portion. However, staff service is good, definitely a fine dining experience. Will go back for the roasted duck

Overpriced, not the tastiest food, small portions and was still eating final mouthfuls as plates were taken away. Wouldn't recommend unless you have money to burn.

Although you find Shang Palace at a lot of Shangri-La hotels they are different one from the other. Which definitely is a good thing. The one here offers a fantastic dum sum “all you can eat” lunch. Simply amazing quality and taste of fresh and delicious dim sum. For dinner there are many à la options and they do a awesome Peking duck. There’s a chef doing noodle pulling and that leaves you in awe. We love Shang Palace because of the food but the standard of service is top too.
