Heriot-Watt University Dubai

Very recently attended a fair in Dar, TZ organised by a reputable local agent. The young man from Heriot Watt was a huge disappointment. He was more interested in eating his Toblerone chocolate and paying half attention to prospective clients. In fact he was worse if a student was alone. As a parent it was disheartening to watch. When you inquire about a subject that isnt at Heriot Watt, he would make trumped up excuses instead of just saying the University didn't have the program. He sounded like a crooked salesman. It was like he came to Dar for the ride. His attitude made me as parent wonder about the University's integrity and put me off inquiring about other courses for my other kids. I would advise Heriot Watt to vet its representatives before sending them to represent their institution.

I used to study here, came back after graduating to take a 5 minute tour and they wouldn’t let me or my family inside. The front desk is downright disrespectful and doesn’t have any manners.

I wouldnt recommend being a student at university which doesnt care about their students after they paid 100s of thousands of dirhams studying here. A disappointing experience from a place i used to call home.

I am a student at Heriot-Watt University, and I wanted to let you know that the teaching is average but not outstanding. Typically, instructors appear bored in class, and their lecture notes consist of a single sentence or a single word.
The administration did not tell us at the beginning of the semester about the new parking fee of 750 dirhams each semester per car. This is terribly unfair to all pupils who must drive to school or take 1 hour or so extra on the subway.
New students who are considering enrolling at this university are encouraged to reconsider their decision, as this university never takes student criticism seriously or implements it. If I had known this earlier, I would have considered a different university. This is not worth the amount of money we are paying for it.

This university is full of incompetent staff who barely understand English. The admission process is very difficult as you have to chase the staff to even have a look at your documents. Visa team is very incompetent as well. Sent an email with all my documents and payments 8 days ago and didn’t get a reply till I decided to follow up today just for them to tell me I needed additional documents which they could have told me 8 days ago and would have saved me a lot of time. Now I won’t make it to induction because of the incompetence of the admissions team and visa team. I have lost all confidence to study at this university now and I wouldn’t advice anyone to apply unless you like disorganisation.

I studied in the old campus and for the fees, we pay the teaching was actually average but not the worst.what I would say is their student service is horrendous they provide 0 support to students or alumni.also a side note to anyone never join direct entry unless you are ready to the last honors year if you leave before honors consider your degree worthless as you will never be able to do masters abroad as they consider your degree as "ordinary degree" which they never tell at the time of admission.so yeah one of the worst experiences all in on and never worth the fees paid

I went to Heriot-Watt for addmission for my child. To enter the university I had to provide my EMIRATES ID! Thankful I had mine. However, you need a visters card. Its funny how students had to use their IDs to enter the reception. I asked for a tour of the university and they refused, as it would violent their Teams. I still don't understand how?

The worst part is that students VAPE IN PUBLIC! I don't want my child to be influenced by these horrible activities.

Most of the reviews seem to be negative about this university being money hungry and all. I would rather go to a UK university than a Scottish university as Scottish degree are inferior than a UK degree.

Do not go here. I recommend UOW or some other university except Heriot-Watt.

Very average Uni. Bad learning experience in a small commercial building. Glady made a switch to a much better Uni in Dubai

Best place for IELTS exam, staff were friendl & clean place But if wifi access provides will be excellent.

Anyone wants to visit here please come from Dubai marina using tram and get down on knowledge village it's only two munites walking distance.

If you have a lot of money and don’t know how to waste it, then this is the right place.

Poor education in every possible way and you will end up learning nothing.
Arrogant and biased professors who think they have the right to do whatever they want.

This will always remain the biggest mistake of my life. There’s absolutely nothing good about Heriot-Watt!

The worst university ever. No one wants to help. I regret coming to this university but unfortunately I can’t transfer now. I’ve been calling the heriot watt student service center because I just need one letter, no one wants to help, no one understands the situation. No human decency whatsoever. This past year I’ve been studying, I was supposed to have an advisor, whom never ever reached out to me. I have sent him an email in the beginning of the year, he never responded.

Pretty average university. Personally, I felt standards took a freefall during Covid. For every administrative requirement you have to run behind them. The number of IT issues I have had to face on the student portal is ridiculous, to the point it's actually affected my grades because of lack of access to resources. As a student working full-time while doing his Masters, I felt there was no regard for the fact that I was working.
The timing of the exams, the manner in which important info was passed on, everything was a major hindrance that required even more effort from my side, constant emails and visiting the campus physically. Trying to graduate has been a physically and mentally exerting task, and this is without taking into account the curriculum. The curriculum is average at best, and quite misleading. You get in expecting something, and receive something completely different.

Standard building.compact, complete with learning facilities across all departments of learning (except law)

Too much diversity in this campus, especially for the architecture students.

I've heard a lot of negative experience and have witnessed as well. Once admitted, there is fewer attention provided to the students with no proper email responses.

New building, new facilities and equipment, very neat and organized.
Wonderful school with many options and continuous support.
Though still no mobile network reception in basement parking or elevators, weird.

Heriot Watts possibly one of the great Engineering Universities nice friendly student enrollment.

There's nothing much to do here I ended up in mc Donald's, which is pretty good on the other hand 5 stars for it

Its one of the best university which I've seen in my life. I've my Bachelors (Hons) in this university and they have the best equipment and facilities.

Pursuing my masters in Artificial Intelligence. Teaching and the course content are top class. The way the course is structured will keep you busy and will also make you skilled. I am happy i made the decision to join masters here.

The fashion department is the worst ever! One star is too generous!
Do not send you child here. They will steal your money and steal the opportunity for your child. Will sell you lines like the 'Swarovski apprenticeship'. Mostly interested in keeping up appearances.
Poor and unprofessional management, full of lies and their shortfalls are always justified and countered for. When students bring a problem to management, they are shut down with a passive aggressive approach. Favouritism is rife to students who are 'yes' people. Students are not allowed to be creative, have to favour the taste of the the lecturer. Terrible in what is supposed to be a 'creative' environment! Some of the lecturers teaching methods are somewhat a joke and seem unqualified. Poorly planned, last minute cancellations, no sense of direction or good planning. Important emails are answered late. Students are left feeling guilty when they seek advice. The list of negatives are too long.
Just make note of the high percentage of drop outs and why only a handful of students return for their 4th year.
This department ought to be shut down asap!

Probably the worst decision of my life is when I decided to do my masters degree here. Very poor education and the teachers are the worst. Very arrogant and sometimes racist and rude. They also provide you with nothing of value.

I have studied my master degree here, for 2 years, I have got great memories over there. The facilities, staff and students were amazing.

Worst university.moreover the persons who are running are really cheaters/ fraudulent. Study world holding group is their name.already spoiled / cheated so many students life in coimbatore. Please / kindly look for other universities. Because its your life.

Not a good choice for higher studies. While some teachers are great, some are the complete opposite, who do not care for a student's wellbeing. No diversity at all, majority are Indians and the community is not a great one. DON'T BELIEVE THE INDIAN REVIEWS THEY JUST SAY THE UNI IS GOOD CAUSE THEY HAVE THEIR INDIAN GANGS.

In assessments of group work, even if it's not your fault- it's still your fault. Even if you couldn't have controlled the situation. The university really doesn't care. People here are trying their hardest and they get into these situations, but then there are people who get As for assignments by paying external agencies to write the essays for them. Def gonna leave soon. Wouldn't recommend this uni to my friends in LA who wanted to come here. Imma go back to LA now, my parents were right.been here for 4 months (1 sem), and I wanna go back.
