We ate at new Shanghai Dubai hills mall over the weekend and found a bug in our rice. I called the waiter and told him, she changed the bowl and the manager comes over very casually and tells me “this happens””rice have bugs” “they probably didn’t clean it” really? ! And they had to audacity to charge me for the bug infested rice! Yuck! Never going back!

Tried their business lunch today and it is worth it. Food is tasty, their waiter Shabash is very efficient and helpful. The Manager Elvis was very accommodating, asking ask if we need anything else or if we are missing an order.i highly recommend this place.

So as always I love the restaurant and I love the vibe and food. Just irritated me badly when I had to pay, as always I prefer card payments but now adays when I want to pay using card. I had to scan a QR code and it's charging me extra for using that. It irritated me badly. I don't recall there is any service fees on paying using cards

Nice ambiance! The staff are really nice, polite & friendly! I was happy since I found out that the floor manager is Lebanese the truffle dumplings are not that good but the duck plate and veggie chicken noodles were super tasty

This is a new resturant in the dubai mall and I came here to try the food and see if it was good or server was analiza she recomend we ordered the crispy chili chiken and stir fried noodles
The chili chiken was not as spicy as I expected but was not to hot where it was inedible the was just right the food was very appealing and the portion is enough to feed 2 people
The stir fried noodle has an amazing flavour to it the chicken is cooked to perfection and was evenly proportioned to have a peice of chicken for every bite
The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable and the design of the restaurant is inviting
The staff is super friendly and helpful
We also ordered the passion fruit mojito and was super tasty and good size for 2
We also tried the moshi we had the strawberry and black sesame the strawberry was super sweet and flavorful and the black sesame was tangy and bitter both were super tasty and a nice way to end the meal
I highly recomend the place for a group of friends or for a date

New Shanghai restaurant in Dubai Mall brings about your dining experience to a different level, which you will surely get unlimited reasons to come back. The Manager, I believe his name was Elvis, he was very nice and accommodating, he touch every table and ensure guests are well taken cared off, shout out to their very kind and beautiful staffs Rose and Analiza, hospitality and guest relation at its finest! They deserve a pat on their back and commendation. Please look for these people when you visit the branch

Had our family dinner at New Shanghai Dubai Mall and my family really enjoyed the food and the service. Food tasted really authentic and delicious. Special thanks to our waitress Rose for the awesome recommendations and the manager Salman for always checking on us. All in all excellent experience and definitely will come back to try other delicious food.

Came here for lunch and was not disappointed. I came when it wasn't so busy yet so the food came really quick. The ginger mojito is so refreshing and such a great drink to start the meal. The hot and sour soup has a lot of ingredients; a small bowl but not stingy as it's full of woodear mushroom, tofu and bamboo shoots. The general tsos chicken has a light coating and came crispy. My server Analiza and the rest of the staff who served me were all attentive. Will definitely come back to try other things on the menu.

I came from Abu Dhabi It was my 1st time to visit your restaurant in Dubai hills mall and it was the worst experience I've ever seen I was standing in front of the restaurant waiting for someone to approach me to my table For like almost 10 minutes The problem that they can see that I am waiting Me and my family but they just ignore And what was their excuse The restaurant there is a lot of people Which is it was normal And when the lady came and took us in with no welcome and no high and no Smile nothing And then we waited also for someone to take our order but they still ignore And when I ask nicely excuse me she looked at me and she didn't sign or something or like anything just waiting for Someone to come After a few minutes the server came and he was even more worse Taking the order from us it's like he doesn't want to even work We're asking him questions what is this and what is that and his answering The questions like hes been forced to I can see it from his eyes and from his attitude and from the way he speak And you know what was even more worse than this servers and the people ho workers they're all Of them races I can see when I ask for someone to come to us he wasn't smiling But they were smiling to another tables Anyways this is my phone number if you want to even hear more what give me a call if you are interested (0508228743-Ali Alassiry) There is things I can't mention it

New Shanghai has become one of my favourite casual visits. The service is always exceptional and the food always tasty, good portions and fresh.

I previously starred this as 4/5 but I have to put it to 5/5 after many more visits.

Whoever manages this restaurant knows how to train his/her team to deliver the right experience for their customers! Top job!

Original review 2020: Really liked this place. Service was brilliant and food was good. Nice little touch of the waiter was a 'recommendation' of some alternate dishes to try next time we visit!

A hidden gem in Dubai. Some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. The crispy skin chicken is delightful.

This Australian Chinese restaurant has been a must go-to spot for me every time I visit Dubai (I’m from Bahrain) ever since it opened a few years ago. The quality of the food is top notch and I like it way more than PF Chang’s and Din Tai Fung. My favorites are the Chicken Buns, Rainbow Beef and Vegetables Noodles. The prices, compared to the RICH portions are very reasonable compared to the above competitors. The only sad thing is that I was told they were planning to expand throughout the GCC but have apparently changed their minds since then. Definitely worth a visit and deserving of way more attention.

Delicious food, a bit pricy.
Sadly we couldn't use our Entertainer because it was a public holiday and we didn't realize until after out meal.

The food was tasty we ordered starter shrimp, chicken noodles and Sweet and sour chicken the noodles was not tasty at all we felt regret to order it since it changed all the good taste from the meal even it has 2 small pieces of shredded chicken only the remaining was good

Absolutely delicious food, I have been to a few restaraunts while in Dubai and this one had the most delicious food among all.

We were at Dubai Mall craving for some Xao Long Bao and Wonton soup, and New Shanghai nailed it! The soup bowl was big enough for two, the dumplings were juicy and it wasnt pricy at all. Unfortunately we had to leave before we had a chance to try more.

Great place, I highly recommend the braised beef noodle soup (weird spices for westerners but delicious nonetheless), the crispy chicken and stirred-fry vegetables. If you are up for a (very) spicy option and not allergic to peanuts the chicken Kung pao is for you. Dumplings are great too. Overall prices are fair and portions abundant.

Traditional Chinese restaurant at ground floor by the Fountain entrance area. I personally like the garlic steamed prawns and and chicken xiaolongbao. It is usually busy and would take 20 to 30 minutes to get a table, but it is worth it.

Hidden gem in the LG corridor of other restaurants! Food taste and quality can surely compete with PF Chang across it or Din Tai Fung at the end to towards the Burj. Their specialty is their dumplings, but the main courses are also good!

Nice place in the dubai mall. The dishes are half-way good: chicken dumplings, spring rolls and kung-pao chicken were all half-way good. Only exception: the truffle dumplings that were amazing. The service is very good.

I was looking for a Asian cuisine restaurant to have dinner with my family after knowing that my favourite Thai restaurant was fully reserved, so I decided to try this Chinese restaurant. As I arrived I was told that the seat were full and I would have to wait as my name was on the waiting list I agreed as I understood that the restaurant was busy and not all seats could be occupied due to social distancing regulations, I waited for about 20 minutes then I was finally seated. Me and my family ordered a bunch of meals but sadly barely any of them tasted good, the spring rolls were tasty and I liked them, but the Shanghai stir fried vegetable noodles were very dull the cattiest were thickly sliced which made it hard to eat with the noodles the sauce didn’t really go well with the type of noodle, the Mongolian beef was fine the meat was very soft to my liking didn’t have much taste but the sauce on it was nice. The crispy duck was also okay tasting overall the quality of food was similar to a Chinese fast food restaurant you would find in a food court. Wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t eat there again.

Came here because if the high reviews online despite my reservations but as expected it was not authentic Chinese food at all but what do you expect given the location. The food was edible but for the most part not tasty, only thing I enjoyed was the hot and sour soup. The menu is massively overpriced, service was good.

The food are so plain. I tried it 2 times and I am sure that I am right.the food are plain no flavors. I thought they will be better than BF CHANG.but not by a long shot

Pan Asian food at its best. Love the ambience. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Only one dish wasn't that was politely replaced by the manager. Great customer service. The dimsums and butter garlic prawns are just wow! The Crispy beef was my favorite. Can't wait to try other stuff. Definitely going Back!

I was super excited to try it but hate to say this was a bit disapointed.we had the duck salad, prawns, and the Kimchi rice i didn't think were very good. The dim sum was decent and the yellowtail with truffle was the best. Gorgeous decor but left on a low. Service was excellent.

Very nice and cozy ambient in the restaurant, not busy, staff is very very friendly and attentive and what is the most important about every restaurant - the food quality, hygiene and taste is on the highest level. Prices are a bit high, but nothing above Dubai standard.

Love this place, for what it is, very easy and the prices are very reasonalble, always tend to have the same things, because I know theyre good, The briaised beef shortrib started, spicy prawn starter, vegies pot stickers and dpending on my food and need to feed, may add a few more itemss

Good services and Ok dim sum. Both the spicy chicken and eggplants are not authenticate dishes you'd think you are ordering, way too oily and lack of real flavour, just finished with a mouthful of deep-fry oil.wouldn't try again.

The service was spot on. Friendly and courteous staff. They made sure to visit our table every now and then to ask if we needed anything and if we liked our food.
The ambience is nice and comfortable which makes it a good destination for hosting a dinner party. Another plus factor is that the restaurant is available on the Entertainer which allows you to enjoy 2 for 1 on main course or 25% off on entire bill (valid till end 2019 so far).
It is located in Dubai Mall so you can easily dine and shop under one roof and not worry about commuting from one place to another.
The rates are generally budget friendly. We had wantons, rock shrimps, kung pao chicken, vegetable fried rice, lemon ice tea and a glass of coca cola, and paid AED 236
All in all New Shanghai is a good chinese eatery that offers a good variety of food on it’s menu. Would definitely come back again to try more of it’s food (especially the wontons)

The beef brisket was nice and super tender! Loved the crispy lava prawns. Which are a little distinct from PF Chang's famous dynamite prawns given that these were crispier.

I went here several time with my family over the past 2 years. It’s a good casual restaurant for good Chinese food. The place is well designed, looks nice, the open kitchen is nice to see how they are cooking and preparing. The food is good, no complaints about the taste. Our experience with the food has always been good, well seasoned, well cooked and well presented Chinese food. I’m not an expert in Chinese food so I can not comment on the authenticity of the food if it is as they make it in China or not, but I can say that whatever I ordered tasted good and pleasant. Staff have always been friendly, never encountered rude behaviour so far and hopefully not. I also like the fact they have vegetarian and vegan options in the menu and highlight dishes with peanuts for allergy concerns.

Since New Shanghai opened it has become our favourite place to eat in Dubai Mall. Expect flavorful Chinese food that's more authentic Chinese in taste and presentation than PF Chang's just across and offers a good variety of flavours across vegetarian, seafood and meat options. All dishes are well prepared with fresh ingredients and cooked and spiced just right. In about a dozen visits at least I've not been disappointed by a dish yet.

True to style you can get Oolong tea (not on the menu but a nice change to the ubiquitous Jasmine tea in Dubai) and have got water added for free like in China proper.
