These guys are hardly what they say they are. Super rude customer service especially this lady called Maris who goes on repeat with standard procedures and answers and doesn't really answer any questions but can get agitated when you want a straight answer.
The first time I took a car and returned it, it was straight forward. The second time I took a car and returned it on time, I got charged auto renewal fees which apparently happened not because of their mistake, but because I didn't call and tell them that I was returning the car on time. Of course, that was not there the first time around, but it is there this time around. Their motto seems to be "The customer is always wrong"
Long story short, it should be resolved in 3-5 working days. 7 days have past and my credit statement has been issued already so I need to account for an additional expense that was never budgeted.
You raise this on their website and no one really bothers to acknowledge or reply and I am pretty sure it will be there same as well.

Only two words - Cheaters and unprofessional.

They will never gave you deposit money even after 40 days, customer service is pathetic.

They charge money from your card without intimating you, even after taking security deposit.

Staffs are really unprofessional.

Never ever buy car from them or else you will loose the money for sure.

It's a fraudulent company. They'll charge the amount & cancel the booking without any reason & apply 10% cancellation charges. You won't be able to get back your security deposit & upfront rental after cancellation. I'm struggling from past several days in order to get my refund back. Dubai govt & regulators should take serious action against this fraudulent company. It's hurting the soft image of Dubai.

Selfdrive are cheaters.
I strongly recommend not to take cars from them.
They deduct any amount as per their wish.
It's been more than a month and I have not received my deposit and the extra month amount which they have taken for an extra month without my consent.
And they have deducted fuel charges also, when I returned there car back it was more than I received (fuel)

How this company manages to operate in UAE is beyond comprehension. It brings disrepute to the country as a whole and to businesses in general.

Long story short, I rented a car from them for about a year. Payments were always paid on time, but in the entire year not once was the car serviced by them. Despite numerous calls to them, it always ended up being a timeless loop of whoever you call is "not the concerned department".

Anyway thankfully after a year the car itself was to be taken off their fleet due to government rules and now the real nightmare starts.a) The car was returned and the very next day I was charged for another month of rent. Despite numerous reassurances the amount has not been refunded.b) Deposit amount, forget about the return of those funds, they havent even acknowledged the amount nor the timeframe of return.c) And heres the icing on the cake, despite my judgement to not rent a car from them again, due to being pressed for time I agreed with their agent to rent a "new" car. Deposit paid, Rent paid. Next day after waiting the entire day for the car to be delivered, I was informed that they do not have said car and hence the "lease" is cancelled. Guess what happens to the Deposit and Rental.you guessed it right, we are back in the wormhole of send us email, contact concerned department, listening to their godawful hold music for an hour before giving up, absolute shambles.

Do yourself a favor and put selfdrive in your list of criminal scamming organizations. Atleast those nigerian emails are fun to read and give you hope you won something.

And raise a complaint with consumer rights compliance department in DED. We cannot just let these scamsters operate and bring disrepute to this country.

Avoid at all costs. They don't reply to emails, and if you manage to get through they are either rude and unhelpful or they tell you have pressed the wrong option and call back. Oh and several "charges" have appeared on my account, which they will not, or cannot explain what they are for. Also, I have now spent the last 3 days trying to get hold of someone to collect the vehicle at the end of the lease. Its almost as if they don't want the vehicle returned on time. Please avoid. They may appear cheap but it will cost you in the long run

14 days have passed since your company withdrew money from my account twice, how many times have I called and written to you, how much more should I expect? Why don't you refund my money? Please return 1000 dirhams that were withdrawn twice for a deposit, is this a mistake in your system and I sent all the evidence that the money was withdrawn to your account, what do you need to check for two weeks to return my money to me? You mislead people and make them uncomfortable. Why should I suffer from your mistake? Write me a specific exact date and urgently return my money to me!

I’ve returned the car since 24th of april but until now refund for the deposit still not given. No answer, no reply and no care at all. There low rental price will just lead you to a lot of headache and troubles in future. @SelfDrive care to return my deposit? Please do not rent a car here!

This company is a complete joke when it comes to customer service. Looks like a big setup but they most likely just have one person named shahrukh manning their whole customer service, service/maintenance and refunds department. At the time of leasing they will act like your best friend but when you face a breakdown or require a replacement vehicle they will stop responding to your messages and calls.

They are running a scam and charging higher prices for it. BEWARE and STAY AWAY from self drive.

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY! THEY ADVERTISE CHEAP RENTALS BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW UP WITH THEM CONTINOUSLY BEYOND THE 30 DAY PERIOD FOR REFUND OF RENTAL DEPOSIT. ADDITIONALLY, THEY WILL KEEP HITTING YOUR CARD AND YOU HAVE TO AGAIN CONTINOUSLY FOLLOWUP WITH THEM FOR REFUND OF AMOUNTS WRONGLY CHARGED ON YOUR CARD. DUBAI AUTHORITIES SHOULD TAKE NOTICE OF SUCH SCAM COMPANIES.

I signed for 1800 aed monthly rental. It seems like they don't have a fleet so they use third parties (their suppliers). Their third-party - DiamondLease - arrives with a rental contract stating "rental of 5000 aed". They insisted i sign otherwise they won't release the car. I tried to scratch out the 5000 and write "NA" and the guy pushed my hand away and tried to prevent me from doing this!

SelfDrive says I should just sign it as "it is a formality" and there is no agreement between myself and DiamondLease. But then why must I sign an agreement between myself and them!? Why put 5000 aed rental on that agreement!? Why insist I can't scratch that part out!?

I then phoned and cancelled and they charged me 10% cancellation fee - shocking!

DO NOT USE THEM! THIS IS BORDERLINE A SCAM!

Worse rental car ever! Please please do not rent with them. The low attractive prices will get you into trouble later. They have hidden policies that are not explained to the customer when taking the car. They do the return assessment of the car without the customer and can add anything they want in the return invoice. Twice they have taken extra rental charges of 1888dhs on our card without consent although the car was already returned. Lastly, they do not have proper office where you will be able to see the management as they operate only from a call center.

The worst company ever very bad service you will never get your deposit or refund on time the stuff are very rude they cut the fone line they insure that the issue is fixed but never fixed really the worst company ever we can’t even make complain they just cut the fone on our face specially the refunds team i got high blood pressure because of this company

Too much hassel. Random amounts cut from credit card, refund not processed. Etc list goes on and on. An employee Julie working there is specially the one creating more problems. BEWARE. Do not recommend it ever.

Worst company to work with! They book you car send u to other companies and tell you go pick your car! But other companies are not even informed! They throw u like a ball here and there!

Bunch of cheaters - booked one month rental with pick up and drop add on; no one comes to pick up the car at the end of month even after calling and emailing for which no response and then they charge my card for additional month, still no response. Avoid them at all costs.

Do not rent a car from this app. They “might” fool you with low prices but once you return the car, they will charge you for damages from previous renters. I lost half of my deposit because of damages i didnt cause and their support team is so unprofessional and unskilled that you dont get any clear explanation from them

Planned a roadtrip with friends for car I preferred renting from Selfdrive. The trip turned out to be great and the car was smooth to drive so happy with Selfdrive.

Recently rented a brand new Mitsubishi Monetero for a 3 months. I can't believe I got brand new car for rent.

The most terrible experience. The worst cars. Dead battery in less than a week. Malfunctioning AC. Expired tyres. Broken seat belt. Already started the booking with a car different from the one I booked with a promise to replace it within 48 hours which never happened. I tested positive for COVID after only one week of my booking and respectfully requested that I return the car and they refund me the remainder as I will stay in quarantine for 14 days and they refused saying we will not refund any bookings. This is a fraud business in collaboration with the company they use “Thrifty.ae”…. Steer clear from any of those two companies as they are the worst I’ve seen in my life and their cars or service are not worth half the money they are charging.

When I asked for suggestion for renting cars most of my friends suggested Selfdrive. So, I rented a Hyundai for 2 months now I am renewing my agreement. Very happy!

Subscribed a brand new BMW 218i for 6 months. It was great fun to drive brand new luxury car at low price. Thank you Selfdrive.

I always prefer to rent than buying cars. For renting its always Selfdrive because they are best at car renting service.

Rented a Nissan Altima from Selfdrive for a complete 1 year. There was no tension for servicing, repair and maintenance everything was taken care by Selfdrive. I love it.

In Dubai renting Selfdrive was a great option for me as a tourist. It made exploring the city very easy and comfortable.

Liars and cheaters. Read the negative reviews here and believe them all. They are quick to charge but take ages to return your deposit. I had 2000 AED, took 2 months and then they take 300 AED with no explanation. Charge you service fees for anything and everything. Do your self a favor and avoid this scam company. There are much better places to rent from. All the 5 star reviews are obvious fakes.

For a stress-free car renting I always prefer and suggest Selfdrive. I am a loyal customer of Selfdrive from past 3 years.

Worst rental company. Right from booking to return the process is chaos with selfdrive. They fool with good advertisements. You will know while you are taking the delivery. I didn't get the car I requested on the day of delivery and there's no easy way to contact them to resolve since they depend on third party leasing companies to deliver the car. While I returned the car one day earlier they charged my credit card for another month extension without my knowledge and they say there's a system glitch. Worst part refund of your deposit will take 30 days and also not sure whether i will get after 30 days. Request to directly approach the car rental companies nearby your location in person instead of depending these people

Zero Stars for this Rent A car Company: Unprofessional Rent A Car Company. They charge first and does not want to amend the booking and cancelled the booking on their own. They heavily charge booking cancellation fees and for rest of the refund; you have to make at least 100 calls to request them for refund. Do not go for this Rent A Car.

FRAUD COMPANY. Worst company to ever work with. The day I returned the car, they charged my an additional months rent fee. And upon questioning them they said it was a mistake. Till job I haven't got the money back and they never respond to my emails. To make it worse, they are still charging me Salik when I'm not even using the Car. This company should be reported to the Dubai chamber of Commerce and should b shut down immediately. FYI - Most of their office locations on their website is FAKE.

Absolute pathetic service. They add service charges on top of the parking fine I got. The lady over the phone told me “I should be happy I got less service charge because usually its more”. Unprofessional behaviour while speaking on the phone. And no communication when renting that fine will be deducted from your card without even asking you. Will never recommend this service and will never rent ever again from them. Be careful everyone. Do not fall for the trap of slightly cheaper car because of their unprofessional behaviour and the willingness to charge your card at their own will and of a price of their own. Absolute pathetic! I wish There was a way to give them zero stars.

I wish I read all this reviews before dealing with them. I regret renting a car from this company. I will never do and will never recommend to anyone. Taking your security deposits takes forever. They keep telling you its the bank that's delaying the refund. Its not true! I called the bank.

Very bad experience with this company,
they are unprofessional and when you rent a car they are super fast in everything and when you ask for any service or you have an issue they never call back or reply to your emails.
I sent them 9 emails with no responses!
At the end they took the car without letting me know with the spare key with my items inside.
And I keep asking about their office location or to speak to managment team totally ignoring my requests.
I don’t recommend it to anyone. Really bad selfdrive company -0 /100

Worst service, i book in this company and from the time of waiting the delivery it didnt came. And i have to call them to know whats the update and just came to know that no car available. I paid already and they dont have any accuracy of the booking. Unprofessional service. You should closed your store.

Overall experience was beyond satisfactory. Got a brand new car for my booking rental. Also, no deposit required for daily/weekly rental. Definitely worth recommending to my friends!

Extremely bad service old depreciated cars when I asked for a replacement no one even bothered after several attempts to replace the car or refund my money

Terrible and please avoid at all costs. Getting re-fund of your security is a herculean task. Mine is already due and I just filed a complaint with Dubai Economic Department.

The worst service providers, they cheat you by not providing complete information and then go on to charge you for cancellation. My money has still not been reimbursed it's been 6 days now. All they say is we'll get back to you. Don't trust these guys!

The cars available vary in quality and they come from a variety of rental agencies, what really annoys me is 2 months later I still haven't received my deposit back, they actually take the money out of your credit card and don't use the 'hold' like most rental companies do. The only way to contact them is via whatsapp or email and it's not possible to contact the accounts department.

Rent at your own risk! My vehicle was returned on Aug 9th after renting for 1 year. It is now October 5th and they have yet to pay me my 3500 AED deposit. In a time like this when people need their money to survive, they do not care. This is very insensitive and unprofessional. They had no issues taking my money, but now that they owe me, it’s taking forever.

2 stars for delivery and pick up on time, negative on the following points - It takes 30 days plus a week delayed after a daily follow up on my deposit refund. Other rentals will take only 15 days and others don't even require deposits. There is no technical support in case you have any technical issue on your rented units.

I rented a nissan sunny from this company for a couple of months. The price was very fair and was very happy with the service. The best thing about Selfdrive is transparency they don't have any hidden charges or anything extra in their plans. They deliver and pick up the car which is very convenient. Strongly recommend this company to anyone wishing to hire or lease a car.

Horrible Customer Service: I rented a three month rental. The service light has been on for three months. They keep insisting it's normal and no one has come to fix it. When I was to renew, I asked the woman to fix the service light and without even seeing which light is on she insisted she knew it and it wasn't a problem.when I told her I need it fixed or else I wont renew she hung up on me. I called back only to have her colleague Mary tell me that I cannot speak to a manager and I can only email the generic email address. When I asked for the manager's name to email to, she refused to give it to me. Every time I call, I get a different response from a different person. I don't understand it. I kindly ask that a manager get back to me asap.

Worst car agency ever! Service is very slow and the agent is not flexible at all! It’s the first time I heard you need your bank statement for renting the car? It’s a joke! If you would like to have security deposit, you can block from my credit card. My residence visa was also under the renewing process, and they said no! They are not flexible AT ALL under the current situation! Worst company ever!

Horrible horrible service. I have called 3 times to report that AC was not working. They promised me to call me back but never did. NEVER. I went to Diamond Lease in an attempt to change the car but they are only the owners of the car. Self Drive is the one responsible to request the change they said.

CHECK THIS OUT: I have paid extra fee to drop off the car at the airport when booking the car. One day before the drop off I called their call Center to check where was their counter. The teller Julian told me that they they DON’T have any counter at the airport and I could leave the car at a hotel nearby the area with their driver. But the area is 15 minutes away from the airport. So Besides paying for an airport drop off fee I have to pay a taxi to the airport! When questioned if the driver would take my family and I to there she said that he won’t. There were no notes or remarks on terms and conditions explaining that, however there was the option to drop the car at the airport and I paid for that! HORRIBLE service with a careless customer service. This company is a RIP OFF. Be careful!

Low Km very clean budget car has also rear cam and parking sensors!

It was overall a good experience from Rentals to Refund. Everything was done online and got my car within short period of time. There were no hassles. Car was brand new 2020, but economical and well suited my needs. At the time of returning back I got my Refund without any delay as they had promised me during booking. I will definitely rent a car again from Selfdrive in Dubai.

Be careful all.these people can take your money easily. Don't pay any cash by phone booking. My experience, they charge the full amount from my account through fone as a booking and ask me to send the documents by what's app. Within 5 minutes of time, they rejected the documents due to the expiry of the documents. Due to this, I told them to cancel it. They charged 10%of amount for this 5 minutes service. No proper response from the team.be careful.

Absolutely useless. I have applied to get a medium term lease car based on their promotion and they simply say sorry it is rejected and can't even share the details why!

Even though their rates are cheap they have the worst customer service! I have booked in the past at least 3 time s with them just purely for the rate.then i wanted to book now for a month, on the website, with i did and enter the promo code that came with the offer.i have made the payment and confirmed the booking.then they tell me there was a glitch on the website and i have to pay additional 150 AED. I told them i am a returning customer, this was was your error so can you not charge me since i have already made the payment on the website. The girl said she will try and then messaged that if i want to keep the reservation i have to pay the additional charge and they won't make the consideration for me. So now i have cancelled my entire booking, they have lost a month long booking and a returning customer! Thank you, but no thank you!

I took car from them for four months (4th Feb to 4th May) and there was no delay in collection of payment from me in fact they called me two days before the payment day and asked for payment which I did on time.
At the time of taking the car they took Deposit amount of AED 1500 and they promised that deposit will be returned after 30 days starting from the date i return the car.
They suppose to return my deposit amount on 4th of June but till now i did not receive. They are supposed to return my deposit amount. Nothing happened and i followed up with them yesterday to one Ms. Jessa and requested to transfer deposit to my another account and they said that they dont know when they can return the amount.
At the time of taking rent there is no delay and now when I am asking my money they are not returning on time and just delaying it without any confirmation.

Reliable and affordable prices with good customer service. The process from booking, collection to handing back to the Car was totally simple. I got my deposit on time. I would happily use them again and recommend them to anyone wanting to hire a car for their UAE.
