THE SUM OF US

I've been a regular here for years because the food is amazing and keeps getting better. Plus, the coffee? Absolutely great. It's super convenient, right at the start of Sheikh Zayed Road, which is perfect for us living in the north of Dubai.

But, honestly, there's always something a bit off every time I drop by. Let me break it down:

Last time, there were some new waiters who got my order wrong. They've got this small plates option on the menu, which is just my style. I double-checked with the waiter about extra charges for adding eggs, and he said nope, no extra charge. So I went ahead with it. But then, when the bill came, surprise! I was charged for a bigger plate because of those eggs. It jumped from 42 to 58 AED! I did point it out, but the excuse was just 'new waiter problems'. I mean, I don't mind paying, but only for what I actually ordered. On the bright side, the barista made up for it a bit with an awesome flat white on the house, though that seemed more for a mix-up earlier with the same waiter that got my order wrong, not the bill thing. But I still appreciated him for it.

I'd come more often, but the RTA parking is a nightmare. The valet service is only free for bills above 100 AED, which can be in convicted especially if I just want a quick coffee.

Also, the bathrooms could really use some more attention. They're not always the cleanest, which is a bit of a downer.

So yeah, while I love the food and the spot is great, these little issues do add up. Hoping for some improvements soon!

Really bad service, restaurant is not that full and i’ve been waiting 15 mins to get my order taken

We are attracted to this cafe for its delightful and delectable coffee. We are extremely grateful to Akil for going above and beyond to accommodate us, despite arriving before the cafe's official opening time of 08: 00am. At 07: 45am, Akil still managed to prepare a wonderful cappuccino for us and displayed exceptional friendliness and hospitality. The staff here truly make this place special, along with the scrumptious food, outstanding coffee (which we, as coffee enthusiasts, fully endorse), and charming interior design. We highly recommend visiting this cozy cafe and experiencing it for yourself!

Best breakfast/brunch in Dubai by a country mile. Phenomenal food, incredible coffee and lovely people.

Even though I only tried a main breakfast dish (scrambled eggs on toast with chorizo) a small cake (almond orange) & a juice (immunity booster) i am inclined to give them a high rating. This place is full of good vibes from the layout of the cafe to the people waiting on you serving you with smiles. You are welcome with a beautiful marble countertop fridge full of baked goodies

A really nice place for having good food and working. I loved the ambience, the lighting, the staff’s behaviour and food.

Only problem was the staff wasn’t active and sometimes you have to go to them to get something. But this is understandable as the place is big.

A little bit noisy as well depending on how many people are their. So if you are working, you might need noise-cancelling headphones.

A medium to high priced cafe. The food worth the price.

Overall a great cafe recommended to all.

My friends used to call Sum of Us "my home" where I used to stay there for hours! Reading, food and coffee.

Recently and after missing this place for almost 2 years! I came back! Only to be disappointed when I had to sit and wait for 35 minutes without any attention from the staff! I sadly had to leave.the lamb confit salad wasn't also on the menu anymore.one more reason not to go back.

Average food, I wouldn’t add this to my plan but it I was in the area I might go
The chai latte is good
They don’t have paring but they have valet parking free for the first 2 hours of your pill is more than 100 and they you pay and amount if you stay longer, good idea but it would be better to have normal parking
The outside seating area is good in the morning but when the sun comes out it gets hot

The place is completely overrated and super small portions that a baby could not even get full of. Expected way more from what was supposed to be one of the best cafes in town.

Very unimpressive experience.
Coffee wasn’t great. Crossiant was small and just ok.
But what really made it unimpressive was the very cold treatment of the staff. No welcome, no smile, nothing. In fact, a staff member hit my chair and didn’t even apologize. Not a place I would recommend or try again.

The place has a good vibe, the taste seems good as well. In my opinion they can introduce more snacks and drink (cold) options. Coz there you feel like going to sit and chat and have some snacks.

Everything tatsted TOO SWEET. Even one of the sandwiches. We ordered chai latte, mocha, two sandwiches and french toast.
Also the coffee did not taste like coffee instead it tasted like agave syrup and no coffee flavors. The first sandwich we ordered was the smoked turkey cheese and it was extremely sweet. They smeared each side of bread with cranberry jam. It would have tasted fine but the jam was overpowering and was just as sweet as the chocolate croissant we ordered. Afterwards we were able to get it replaced so the waiter recommended the croque monsieur to us. This ended up being so bland and salty. You could not even taste the cheese at all. The main taste was pickles.
I can't understand why so many people like it.

I've been a couple of times for breakfast, and the food service is very slow for a cafe. Then our 'soft' poached eggs were basically hard boiled, ie not at all runny. Disappointing. There are many better options for breakfast in Dubai.

Came for late breakfast, good vibes but the staff were slow (I had to ask multiple times for stuff) the food was good though!

Very nice restaurant specially the interior dining set up and most specially the food it was very good and delicious. Highly recommend if you want to have a good brunch meal.

After living in Melbourne for years this place definitely took me back there. Great venue and atmosphere. Really good bakery selection. House blend coffee was excellent. I was a bit disappointed with the Nashville style chicken burger, chicken had a weird texture and not enough crunchiness and way too much coleslaw. Ricotta pancakes and smoked salmon croissant Benedict were absolutely delicious. Definitely coming back.

The place is ok and the food was good but the service was not good we were sitting on the corner so it was difficult to get the attention of the staff (if you can not manage the corner table don t put it) we asked for a baby chair which never came and we just notice that other family which children got coloring stuff for their children, whereas nothing was offered to our children. I don t want to say more!

So finally food is nice but over priced, availability is poor and service is so so. I ll not return

Zero flexibility when ordering a menu. You have to stick 100% to the given menu, but are allowed to order what ever else is in the menu seperately. Very sad behavior for such a cafe-restaurant: (
(Ordered chicken schnitzel and were asking for some fries instead of the side salad.)
The taste of the chicken schnitzel definitely deserves 4 star.

Burrata Fig salad came with a tiny piece of Burrata which was on top of a heavy burned toast.

Starter and main course were served together. Definitely a NO GO!

UPDATE:
The person who was in charge on that day did react immediately and offered to waive of the total bill in the end which couldn't be accepted as the food overall was really good. After paying the full amount and because of the managers gesture and the immediate response, I am changing the rating from 1 to 4 stars!

Will definitely come again.

Tom&Serg burger is yummy especially with sweet potatoes as side. They serve speciality coffee here. Service is good. Love the concept with greenery.

Together with the stylish cafe this place has the combination of roaster as well. You can buy freshly roasted beans inside and the place is very handy for doing coworking and remote working and what is more the location is very prime!

Probably my favourite breakfast spot in Dubai right now. The mushroom quesadilla and french toast are yummm

Best Café i have went to in UAE. The food is AMAZING, delicious, healthy and clean, i dont think you will regret eating from there if you watching your weight.i enjoyed the vibe of the café. And the people serving food are kind and always smiling. Specially Daniel Cisa he was very proactive. Even though when we went restaurant was busy.definitely going to visit the café again.we ordered, pancake, egg benedict, avocado toast, zucchini toast and coffee.my top favorites pancake, egg benedict, avocado toast, coffee.i will visit them for sure to try the lunch menu

Very disappointing - it’s a new menu since I last visited. Ordered a chicken type burger and fries. The quality of the chicken was not good - it looked like road kill - could not identify what part of the chicken was used. It was coated in a crusty coated which had not taste. The fries had definitely been reheated and also had no taste. After paying 215dhs for some coffees, 85dhs for some take away cakes I was presented 20dhs for car parking fee - I will never visit again.

The service is very poor. For such a nice cafe not to have good staff proves the importance of great service. The staff is rude and arrogant. The manager doesn’t seem to care about your feedback. It was a formality of taking your feedback instead of really caring about what you have to say.

The food is amazing! This is the first place I had a meal in after the 5 month lockdown. And I was not disappointed. I got a mushroom quesadilla with chai latte and my husband got scrambled eggs with sourdough. We couldn’t be bothered with talking as soon as we tasted our food. Even the chai latte was better than most of the places. I would definitely go again, and totally recommend this amazing cafe.

الموظفة اللي يتنا كانت حبووووبة وايد ماشاءالله.

وحبّيت أنه عندهم قسم لtake away, بحيث اللي يبا ياخذ شي يكون جاهز مايضطر يتريا الطلب يخلّص.

بالنسبة للأطباق؛ماشاءالله كانت كميّة الأطباق كانت حلوة حتى ماكلناه كله.
طلبنا أومليت وي مشروم؛ كان حلو فلَفي جيه، بس ناقصنه ملح وفلفل " بالنسبة لذوقي".
والطلب الثاني كان توست وي بيض ومشروم - بعد كان حلو.

وطلبنا كابتشينو؛
صراحةً ماحبيت وايد- طعم القهوة كان شوي قوي وحاد.

أتوقع برجع للمكان مرة ثانية بإذن الله وبجرّب أكثر عن شي.

I ordered a latte with almond milk and got asked by the staff If I have tried before because it tastes bad. I thought it was strange but still ordered almond milk as I don’t like cows milk. If almond mil tasted bad is because you’re either not making it right or you have to change your supplier.
I also ordered the babka, which tasted really bad.
The ice cream already came melted and it didn’t look at all like the photo of the desert on their instagram. It was a bit disappointing.
At the end, the coffee with the “bad almond milk” was ok but overall I wouldn’t come back there.

Nice place with good ambience. Quinoa salad was very tasty. Signature coffes are black coffee with different preparation methods. One can see the roasting method as well. Washrooms are clean. Sweet potatoes fries are very tasty.

Ordinary food at best. Lamb salad incredibly expensive, hard to find the lamb. Lots of wet quinoa. Cappuccino awful. No chocolate dusting. When I asked about this they dumped some awfuly bitter dark chocolate on top. Made the coffee worse. Bypass this place, save your $$.

French toast was tooo sweet. Not my typ. Very good coffee.croque madame could be better, ddnt like it much. Scrambled egg was nice.

Good place to enjoy breakfast when you are on a break. Good staff and good food. We did find a hair in our meal but other than that everything was good

The eggs here are pretty darn good for Dubai, however there’s a lot of hype and the pricing is pretty steep for why you get. It’s one of those try it once if you’re in the are but don’t go out of your way for it.

Sadest bakery i ever visited. Donno how they call themselves bakery as it has barely cakes or anything nice to eat. Is quite empty. The staff was very polite and helpful but it doesn’t help much when the menu is too boring. I strongly advice to avoid it.

A hip and casual Australian style cafe with a modern and trendy fitout, indoor seating and some al fresco out the front.

There's a breakfast menu served till 5pm and a lunch menu served from 12 noon till close. Menu offerings are innovative and offer a broad selection including fusion dishes, much like the cafe scene in Australia.

The coffee is great and there's free filtered water. It's a cool place, but if you're having coffee and cake, the slice of cake is disappointingly thin for the price.

Liked the ambience. The food taste was good too. The waiting staff and service needs to be quicker.

A misty morning and the weekend ride cut short. What better to do than eat a early breakie and drink coffee. Breakie was good as chef obliged to our request for paratha and scrambled eggs with Chorizo. Coffee was Colombian with double expresso extract. Always wondered why consossiuer coffee shops don't have the ability to pick any coffee in the range and prepare an expresso.

Awesome breakfast / lunch / brunch spot. Try the sweet potato fries for sure, they rock! Also had the tsou bowl with chicken. Amazing.

Pity we got there about 30 min before closing time.so not much to choose from, as most nibbles sold already. Coffee (chemex, flat white, cappuccino) was grt. Dessert lovely and waiters knowledgeable about the coffees and service wonderful. Even tho they were closing, the head waiter said we cld stay until they cleared up and was abt to leave. That gesture was amazing.will definitely b visiting again.

We went to eat here because of the good reviews, and my god, just come here if you want to be stressed by the staff, they are so annoying. You are not gonna have peace here. Food is so-so, good taste but not worth it. It is our worst restaurant experience in dubai.

Nice Coffee and great food. They also make some nice deserts and great sweet potato fries. Portions are huge. Outdoor seating is also good.

Perfect spot to work out of the office or to catch up with friends for breakfast.

Everything on the menu is devine, i am working my way through it.

On your way out grab a banana bread (THE BEST BANANA BREAD) and the vegan brownie - WOW!

Got the ricotta pancakes and a capuccino.
The place is very cosy, beautiful decoration with the flowers place.
They have plenty places inside and a terrace.
The coffee is very good, they are famous for the good quality of their beans.
They actually do coffee degustation on a daily basis.
Pancakes were ok.
Paid 80 aed for both.
Fee parking around the restaurant (free on Fridays).

Nice coffee shop below Burj Salam. It is the only proper coffee shop in this area and has a very nice rustic and open feel to it.
The bread is really nice and one can just chill to work and have coffee.

My go to place to work on the weekends.

Great coffee, banana bread and vegan chocolate truffles. The carrot cake was too sweet. Must have bread pudding. It is sweet but a good sweet.

Great food, friendly staff excellent experience. Was planning to visit this place for a long time and here I am loving it and we'll you will love it too enjoy.
