Not really a good restaurant, Dosa’s were thick like a paratha and sambar was too sweet and the only good things were the chutneys and filter coffee!
04 November 2023 8:55
Very disappointed today. Ordered 2 dosas. Both were half the size of what is usually cooked. The sauces provided for one dosa and half the quantity. The disposable cup was also missing this time

We ordered what we thought was sambar rice, but it turned out to be separate servings of sambar and rice –
a discrepancy not mentioned on the menu. When we inquired, the waiter's response was hopeless and conveyed a discourteous attitude, accompanied by unfortunate nonverbal cues.

Fantastic food, fast and efficient service, so well priced as well. What else can be asked of. Have a lovely time and enjoy your meal.

Authentic Mangalorean style food. Chatni and sambar prepared with lot of care. My son enjoys the unlimited south Indian Thali. I like the masala dosa and idli.
22 August 2023 1:14
Best place for a hearty south indian meal
Fav breakfast place. Top dishes mini tiffin, medu vada, filter coffee
21 August 2023 17:14
Had the poori bhaji and sheera here for breakfast. The pooris were big and crispy but felt the potato bhaji was missing some salt and a little bland. Filter coffee was ok.

It saddens me that my favorite establishment has lost its glory. Other than the sambar today I wouldn’t go to Venus for anything else. I ordered my beloved Gobi Manchurian which had a taste like no other place. Overtime though the standards dropped but they always tried to match the taste consistently. Nowadays the food taste is inconsistent and the same goes to their service. A sad time indeed. For a dish that costs 20 dhs plus at least put some effort in the food that you prepare to your customers, because customers will find better restaurants and stop coming, just like me today.

Food: Not as expected. Ordered a Ghee Roast, but it went cold very soon and not as tasty as I had from many other places. Even the Vada and filter coffee also wasn’t as per my expectations.

Service: Decent service. Very prompt in taking orders. And the food was prepared fast. Reached by 8: 00 AM on a Sunday, wasn’t crowded, but found it getting crowded by 9: 00.

Atmosphere: Decent seating space, very spacious, has a separate family seating on the first floor.

Prices: Very affordable, 4 ghee roasts, 4 coffee & 2 Vadas took us back 100/-. Very decently and affordably priced.

One of the best mangalorean vegetarian restaurants in dubai. Mangalore buns, Dosas, filter copy are amazing one.don't miss it
03 January 2022 21:08
For a south Indian breakfast and lunch thaali, this is one of best restaurants in karama. We often go there for breakfast almost all weekends. I love their food. Staff is good. Weekend mornings are mostly packed, but their service is fast. We mostly order mini tiffin, abd banana buns from their menu, and we love it.
19 December 2021 13:28
They put cabbage in every dosa and way over excess. There are multiple better places around.
I think they have cabbage farms
05 December 2021 11:36
Very good and clean restaurant with very friendly staff, food is amazing and tasty, value for money
05 December 2021 11:04
Good place for vegetarians. I love the way they have maintained their standards for the taste. I can say I am quiet a frequent visitor to this place.only thing is a lot of times, when you need help, you don't see anyone around.also.this is a perfect vegetarian joint for foodies.

Good Restuarant, Provides beat cuisines of South Indian, specially from Karnataka

22 September 2021 5:10
Best and authentic manglorian vegetarian food in town. That too in economic price. Rassam wada is my all time favourite. Every dish of this restaurant is tasty and authentic. It's our hop skip and jump restaurant. We have carving for wada and dosas at least once in a month.
15 July 2021 21:23
Bad experience from staffs, I ordered 1 ghee roast, they taken full amount, but without 2 chutney, if we purchased additional chutney they added additional charges
07 July 2021 18:43
One of the oldest and yummiest restaurant! Their idli sambar and infact everything is so Good and great value for money!
05 July 2021 16:25
I went there for breakfast and the breakfast there was too good. Good air, ambiance, and good food.
19 June 2021 12:44
Authentic south Indian to dishes. Found the sambar a little sweet but the soft idli was really good. Tried the Rava dosa but found it not up to the mark. Ended with kesari Bhat which was yummy! We had ordered thali with Puri bhaji but we're not happy with the bhaji as it was bland.
07 June 2021 16:06
If you are really looking forward on going to authentic South Indian dishes.its the right place when you enter it feels like you are in South India.there style really resembles the same style as my home town restaurants. Even they provide tiffin that is common in North West and even different varieties of dosa, idli which will give you the exact flavours of udupi and tamil nadu.its wow
24 May 2021 2:06
This restaurant’s quality & service has deteriorated to the lowest of lows, they have become complacent after the success, I’ve been going here since past 18 years, it was a different experience before. Had a horrible experience today with their service & food quality was not even close to what it used to be once upon a time
13 May 2021 12:14
Have been coming to this place in Karama for almost 12 years. It would have been five star however prices have gone super up
10 May 2021 9:42
The food is excellent if youre looking for a more andhra based cuisine but it does do a good job in replicating dishes from the North as well. They're a little bit on the expensive side compared to other South Indian restaurants but the food is worth the cost.
03 May 2021 1:45
One of the oldest South Indian restaurants in Dubai. Our favourite for Mangalorean snacks. Other veg popular dishes are also good. Staff is polite and good service. Rates have been increased recently due to Covid related cost impact. Parking is difficult to find in the busy karama park area.
22 August 2020 3:02
One of the best places globally (not just in Dubai or Karama) to have a good South Indian food. All your dosa, uttapam, South Indian thali, Idli, vada and more are finger-licking level good. Bonus - Jain Sambhar can be made available (after 12) (which is not available in some of the other equally good South Indian restaurants in the area).
08 June 2020 3:35
If you are looking for telugu style breakfast, this is the place to go, located near Al Karama fish market area in Dubai. The place is cool and staff are well mannered. They make sure you feel like home. They also serve mini thali and full thali, both South Indian and North Indian. We also liked their Karnataka style buns. You should try this place for sure.
17 May 2020 17:38
One of the very few places in Dubai to get good idly and sambar (typical Karnataka style). They are also one of the oldest established restaurants. Ample space. Good place for family dining
29 March 2020 2:38
Venues is one of the oldest south Indian restaurants in Dubai. Located in karama. Awesome food, well kept and good service. Good for breakfast, lunch and even dinner. I prefer the south Indian thali in the afternoon and wada/idlli sambar for breakfast. The food is fresh specially the chutneys!

Ample parking around the place. Fridays it can get pretty busy.
16 March 2020 23:09
More than the food, I visit this place for the staff. Everyone is smiling and warm.

05 February 2020 13:16
Very bad experience, I was going to this restaurant since 2009 to till date to their different branches in qusais, Karama and Naif.staffs attitude and behaviour seems like and behaves that they are serving from their pocket. Not cooperative. Quality reduced, double the price in last few years on some of rhe dishes, which is not worth, no extra serving, they show the menu for the charges if you are ordering extra curries or chutneys. I recommend to look alternative rather going to these group of restaurants. In this competitive market their behaviour and attitude is not good. They closed one branch in Burdubai. We have better restaurants than this in near by places and their service is very good and they serve with smile not by attitude.
14 January 2020 2:27
Good vegetarian restaurant in the town.if u want udipi sambar. (Bangalore style) then this is the place u can have it.
11 January 2020 15:39
Venus Restaurant in Karama is a superb place for good Indian food, especially south Indian variety. The food was very good, tasty and hot. Quick service, even on a weekend. Try their mini Tiffin. Three small iddlys, vada, upama, sheera, mini masala dosa and half filter coffee or tea. Excellent for breakfast. Rava masala was perfectly made. Crisp and hot. The filter coffee was excellent. A must visit place. Very economical.
10 January 2020 10:35
The staff / waiters and order taker especially a guy with beard, most arrogant attitude, it's like you are in GOON MARKET
09 January 2020 18:41
Best south Indian restaurant in Dubai, there sambar is just delicious, dosa is crisp, Panner butter masala is great and their kesar sheera is the yummy, nothing like it.
01 January 2020 14:16
Sambaaar. Woow. Food is good but service is very poor. Especially on weekends, they can't cop up with rush.
25 December 2019 6:22
A perfect outlet if you're hailing from South India. They got the best of veggies. Mostly crowded in weekends. They serve few special items for breakfast in the weekends.
13 December 2019 8:46
Nice place to eat and food is very tasty.basically from Karnataka.
Staff's are friendly and quick to respond.
10 December 2019 15:35
Evergreen south Indian restaurant wide variety of choice taste tastes never change for many years just need some renovation
02 September 2019 3:07
Best vegetarian restaurant, located in karama opposite to Lulu. Try it your self and you will find yourself coming back for more. Even their Idli sambar is the best in Dubai.
31 August 2019 5:33
Excellent food served by well mannered and cheerful staff. I had ordered a south Indian thali and the taste was spot on. The glass of buttermilk was a relief in the heat.

Five stars for food, service and ambience.

Highly recommended

My all-time favourite place for Indian food. Loved the thali and treated myself to a milk pada.
Brought back some happy childhood memories of eating out with my dad

Venus is a value for money, 100% vegetarian South Indian chain of restaurants. This flagship branch is one of the first restaurants to open in the Karama Park square in Karama and has since become something of a landmark. Located next door to Calicut Paragon, it’s laid out over two floors, the upstairs for families and ladies and downstairs for everyone else (including ladies who don’t mind eating with men). I switched to Venus when my regular South Indian breakfast haunt in Meena Bazaar, Emirates House, was closed down. And I’ve been coming here ever since. In fact, this is the restaurant I use to benchmark others against. I love the food here.

Venus boasts an extensive menu of which their thali is quite popular. But if anything, it is their South Indian breakfast which is most famous. If you have read any of my other reviews, you will know I stick to a tried and tested formula of starting with an idli-vada dip before moving on to a masala dosa and ending with a filter coffee. The idli/vadas at Venus are always fresh, the volume of business they do demands it. I find their idlis light and fluffy and their vadas crunchy on the outside and spongy on the inside – near perfect. Their sambar, although watery and almost entirely devoid of any veggies, is tart and tangy with just the right amount of pungency.

Their dosas have shrunk in size to almost half of what they used to be. But they’re the same delicious, perfectly browned, cylindrical, flexi-crisp masterpieces they’ve been serving since I first visited them years and years ago. And that applies to the potato masala as well. The coriander chutney is superb.

Service is fast and furious, especially at peak times. Don’t expect anything more than a subtle wobble of the head or an eyebrow salute as acknowledgement or greeting when you arrive. Expect to share a table with a total stranger when the restaurant fills up (which is quite often). Manage your expectations and you will love this place. In my mind Venus remains one of the best places in Dubai for a South Indian breakfast and is well worth a detour.
