Yummy!

What a treat, this was just beyond my expectations.

It’s something when they serve traditional food, but it’s something else altogether when you get to taste those local dishes In a traditional manner with art of the country surrounding you. Ethiopia, you are full of surprises.

I hope some of you try Zagol and their amazing food.

Ethiopian is not the cuisine that comes to mind when you first think about a meal out with friends and family, due to its simplicity. But the experience and flavours will blow you away.

I always opt for the vegetarian platter which has every vegetarian dish on the menu, 3 types of lentils, potatoes, cabbage, carrots and green beans, beetroot and two types of salad, served in one huge platter that your party gather around to eat out of. Every single dish has a unique but explosive flavour. The authenticity of eating in this way in a small but charming place, with service always delivered with a smile and a bill that is a fraction of what you would pay at a more commercial place. It is a must try!

The food was below average. The Injera was extremely sour, the sides were excessively tangy. Felt bloated after eating. Just not the experience I had hoped for. Never going back again. No no no! Never ever!

Incredible food, served in a really fun engaging way, to be shared by many because wow these portions are large. The major slight against the service is that they only accept cash, no cards or Apple Pay.

Great food. Really good quality. Unique taste and great quantity. And also great customer service. Definitely worth trying.

The food was wonderful and very authentic. The staff were amazingly welcoming and lovely.

It’s an amazing experience and highly recommended.

I’ve never tried Ethiopian cuisine before, I’m glad I did today for the first time.

I loved the restaurant vibes, the decorations and the colours are so authentic and I felt like I was in Ethiopia.

The staff working there is really courteous and friendly.

The food is really delicious for a reasonable price.

Location wise a little bit busy cause it’s in Karama, apart from that everything is outstanding.

Living in Dubai you are aware there is hundreds of restaurants to choose from. This is definitely top 3 and number 1 Ethiopian food.

The lady that is serving offers great hospitality without bothering too much. The place is very small but offers so much taste. The plate which has a bit of everything and injera is the best

Will be back!

Our third time in this hidden gem. Food is exquisite and authentic Ethiopian. Good and smiling service and an interior that brings you close to Ethiopia! Bravo Zagol, keep the quality high!

Great place great staff especially Gerish who was extremely a host who handles customers very well. I enjoyed the coffee and pop corn.

Best Ethiopian food in Dubai hands down. I come here at least once a month and I'm never disappointed. Great food and staff. Very authentic.

Really lovely spot in the city. The people working there are super kind and friendly too. And the food!? Wrapped in love and served to you vegan if that’s your angle. Loved eating here and need to go back ASAP! Thank you ️

I had a (human) nail in my food that I only discovered while chewing… I don’t remember this being on the menu. How on earth did this get in here? Who cut their nails over the cooking pot? So bad it’s comical, still wouldn’t recommend eating here, unless you like extra keratin. 0 stars.
02 June 2022 18:25
A nice little Ethiopian restaurant serving authentic Ethiopian food. The beef tibs are delicious! They also toast their own coffee beans and serve coffee with popcorn. The service here is great too!
19 May 2022 11:53
I can’t believe this place have so many good review. I’m Ethiopian and the food wasn’t nothing like Ethiopian good food but the worst part was the food was cold and when we told them they told us they will add something hot on it I was just shocked and was scared to eat it because I don’t want to get food poison. No one came and asked if we want something us. When I told the girl to give me the check with out the cold food what we didn’t eat she asked me if I want it to go‍️
I will definitely not recommend this place or go again!

A hidden gem in Dubai in Al Karama. Unpretentious soul food from Ethiopia with a beautiful vibe and wholesome platters served in authentic trays on Ethiopian drums. The food is prepared by the women in the kitchen and is delightful. Would wholeheartedly recommend Zagol - you can thank me later ;)
27 April 2022 23:32
Zagol restaurant is my favorite place to eat because it is friendly, cosy, and relaxed. The food there is also delicious, good value, and presented well. At Zagol, you must experience an Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
25 April 2022 5:00
The food was amazing and the decoration really showcased the Ethiopian culture but poor customer service. The staff are full of attitude and they don't offer card payment
02 April 2022 20:40
I have read other reviews and wanted to try this place hoping to be served with authentic Ethiopian food. The place is small (not bad) but the food big
27 March 2022 12:35
I placed an order at 12pm today and I am still waiting. Very poor customer service. First n last

Cosy restaurant with excellent Ethiopian dishes. Great taste, authentic atmosphere, very friendly staff.
14 February 2022 13:11
What an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. A true hidden gem. The decor is warm, the staff are beyond lovely and hospitable. The food is out of this world. Not to be missed!
29 January 2022 9:36
Pretty, cute, must go!

It is a small place and you’d hardly notice it unless you already know about it! My friend is kind of high street and was rolling eyes but we went in anyway.

The food is pretty good, traditional Ethiopian cuisine. The three of us ordered one big plate, vegetarian because the high street one doesn’t eat meat!
The bread was too sour to suit my taste but I developed the taste by end of it.

I loved the ambience, the authenticity and the presentation of the food.

The lady who was running the place helped me learn the alphabets which are written at the billing desk there. It was pretty cool and very sweet of her! She taught me how to introduce myself in Ethiopian but I’ve forgotten that now?

They only take cash payments so prep before you go.

We visited Zagol already three time and we find the food very delicious. We love Ethiopian food and we tried in several places around the globe. Zagol is for sure on the top of the list as quality and taste. Highly recommended, at the end, a hot beverage with ginger, orange and other which will help you to have a quick digestion. Staff friendly and kind
04 January 2022 18:46
Tried Ethopian cuisine for the first time and it's now my new favourite. The injera was so nice & tangy served with a variety of gravy. Hands down the most delicious African cuisine I've had. We also had their speciality coffee served with popcorn (yes) and bukhoor.

A wonderful experience!
03 January 2022 23:33
YES - It is a place to experience atleast once.

NO - Don't expect a food which is something out of the world.

Overall a clean place, friendly hosts, traditionally alive but could be a little bit cheaper.
28 December 2021 16:55
Very disappointed with the staff attendance, it took them way too long to take an order although the place was empty. Ambience was nice, I would recommend to create outdoor sitting during Dubai winter season.
30 November 2021 15:09
Delicious! Best Ethiopian food in Dubai! Came here with 2 friends for dinner and we were well fed. The restaurant is small so it’s not ideal for big groups. We ordered the meat platter, it took about 45 minutes to be ready which wasn’t good but the food was worth the wait! We also ordered lemon mint juice which was refreshing! Also loved the ambiance! We will be back!
29 November 2021 20:50
Very traditional Ethiopian restaurant in the heart of Old Dubai. The food is delicious and made fresh on the spot. You can choose between veggie or non veggie served on home made injera. The coffee pot at the end of the dinner reminded me the traditional coffee ceremony I had the opportunity to enjoy in Ethiopia.
11 October 2021 12:10
Super sweet and authentic Ethiopian place in the middle of karama. From the moment you step in you feel totally welcomed. We had the big platter (one veg and one meat) and absolutely everything was delicious. Loved the injera as well and the coffee at the end. Will be back for sure!
20 September 2021 23:52
It's really a kind of feeling, the food is amazing and coffee is served in the traditional way! Zagol special and jabana is my fav
13 September 2021 12:06
The meals look pricey on the face of it, but the portions are large and we could feed 5 persons out of a 162 DHS total cost. Very tasty as well!

Only stag's that they don't accept card payments so pls come with cash! Best Ethiopian I've had so far!
12 September 2021 16:38
This is THE restaurant in Dubai for authentic Ethiopian food (which has been confirmed by Ethiopians no less). The staff are very friendly and the prices are very good. They have a small restaurant where the food is prepared and cooked, or the slightly bigger restaurant next door. I always leave feeling very satisfied.

Zagol Restaurant is The place where you can get Delicious Ethiopian Cultural Food and Coffee Ceremony with heartworm service in Dubai UAE
25 November 2020 8:54
1st time at an Ethiopian restaurant and the experience was great. The ambiance takes you back to Ethiopia. Friendly and smiling staff. And not the forget the Zagol special giving you the authentic taste of pure Ethiopian food. Right from veggies to meat to eggs. And the bread. No complaints just happy and smiling face at the end of the meal. And yes the Cinnamon tea was simply relieving.

Definitely one of the best restaurants in town. My favourite one in the world (have been in more than 50 countries) I can say this after 4 years living in Dubai.
What best description for an Ethiopian restaurant to say that is always with a lot of ethiopian there. Have been to two other ethiopian restaurants in Dubai, and they dont have as many locals as Zagol. Their prices are fair. The atmosphere is super Ethiopian. The tastes are amazing. Their fresh juices are real fresh juices (if you like mango, dont miss it). They have great VEGETERIAN options. Its a cozy place where there is space for 4/5 tables for a maximum of 4 people per table, its very intimate. The waiters and waitresses are super kind and they are wearing their national dresses. Their food is delicious. They play ethiopian music. My recommendation if you are vegeterian or you are into veggies and it is your first time to try their meal for 3/4 (the one of the picture) that you can try a variety of different dishes.
I hope you can enjoy as much as I do from this place!
13 April 2020 16:14
Not the most photogenic cuisine ever but I tried Ethiopian food for the first time and it turned out to be nice and full of goodness chickpeas, lentils, beans, spinach, spicy potatoes and - injera which is their dosa like bread which was ok -. Its actually a spread thali. The convenience of eating having everything in one bigggg plate was tastefully osummmm.
The taste was typical indian masala powedered into african namesake.
Its just like a bengal tiger visiting the african wildlife.
04 April 2020 18:39
Great authentic Ethiopian food! It's a very small place that fits 4 tables only. Gets busy in fridays and Saturdays afternoons. Parking is an issue in that area. Best time to visit to get a table and a parking spot in on early Saturday afternoons.
01 March 2020 3:41
Today I visited this hotel with my ethiopian friend.and we order khaiwoth (sheep dish) -but we got curry only with onion, carrot with redchilly - no meat.it's very sad to say taste was not up to the mark. Before we had good experience with them. I think the old cook was great, may be now they appoint new cook. Please learn how to cook khaki wot
Anyway today's taste make me feel bad. My ethiopian friend also ashamed in front of me.
24 February 2020 12:59
Good Restaurant for one who loves home cooked Ethiopian food. The ambiance of the restaurant is very good and in Ethiopian style. In this tiny restaurant you will get delicious and super authentic Ethiopian food served on the traditional Injera bread (For Ethiopians, Injera is like Chappathi for Indian's & Kuboos for Arabs).
The menu has description for every item and it explains what is in each dish and we can select what we like. We can take recommendations from the beautiful ladies who serves food and they are very happy to explain each item which suits us.
Most of the customers are Ethiopians and that itself shows the quality of food.
Public muncipality parking available in front of the restaurant.
Better to visit on weekdays as the restaurant have space only for 4 to 5 tables.
05 February 2020 11:06
Excellent food and great service. It was a very wholesome and healthy meal and one meal had the four of us so full and content for the rest of the afternoon! The restaurant is in a busy block, which had plenty of restaurants, and is a small place, so it's possible to miss the restaurant unless you are watchful. Parking is usually available in the street.highly recommended. Do visit.
16 January 2020 11:07
Cozy atmosphere, 5* customer service, rich Ethiopian culture complimented by the decor and family friendly. Keep up the amazing work. Proudly African.

04 August 2019 16:15
Yesterday I went for the first time to that small cozy restaurant, and I really liked it, staff is smiling and giving you attention, food is nice, I ordered Tibes (is a local lamb dish) and it’s worth it
24 July 2019 12:52
Been there 5 times and they are keeping the food standard very consistently. I really enjoyed the foods with my friends here. Highly recommended.

What a great little visit to Ethiopia in Dubai. Wonderful presentation delivered with warm Ethiopian hospitality. Great options for vegan and vegetarians
04 June 2019 3:19
This may be the best Ethiopian food I've ever had! Restaurant was small but so cozy and charming. I loved eating on the traditional stools and tables. The portions were huge and you can see the food being made fresh to order from the kitchen. The servers were so polite and attentive.
09 May 2019 4:43
Good food and service but the place is a little small, sometimes customers just go back because there is no place to sit.
01 May 2019 3:00
