I had an incredible visit to the National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah with family last week. The museum brings the history and cultures of the life of Emirates. It is a small museum but showcase the rich heritage of RAK. There is clock tower at the top and one must enjoy the top view of entire museum.

Entry fee is 5 AED for Adults and 2 AED for kids.

Museum is in middle of the city and near to corniche and local market is very nearby we had enjoyed the beach and amazing view of sunset.

Parking is free infact most of places parking is free in RAK.

I highly recommend to visit The National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah and interested in learning history and culture of UAE.

A historical journey through Ras Al Khaimah! The RAK National Museum is a treasure trove of the emirate's heritage. The well-preserved fort and exhibits provide insights into the region's culture, traditions, and history. The interactive displays are engaging for all ages, making it an educational and enjoyable experience. Don't miss the panoramic views from the top of the fort.

This national museum of Ras Al Khaimah is built on traditional fort architecture with a large central courtyard and buildings on all four sides housing the exhibits.

If it's quiet, it can be quite leisurely and relaxing to stroll through the few buildings that you can enter and view various items on display from ancient to old to modern. Like many other museums in the UAE, there's not heaps on display but if you are interested in old artifacts there's a few to be seen here.

There's free parking out the front and a small fee to enter.

Also it looks like limited items are only available.
Positive thing is it's very cheap only AED 5 and they are giving free guided services (just request @ counter)

Lovely museum, if you’re visiting Ras Al Khaimah, then give it a try, got to know the history of this small town and how they did trading and the trading routes from different continents back in the days. However there were few sections that are still in under renovation but Weaponry Exhibition was worth visiting. The entrance fee is 5 AED per person.

It's a good place to see in RAK if you like history. It's not crowded, only 5 aed ticket, free parking & they give you free guide & water. They have different sections like history, archeology, weapons etc. & the guide very nicely explains everything.

I love this place and I visited twice. Just near it there are nice restaurants, an old mosque dating more than 100 years and the beach. The staff are also very friendly. There isn’t much to see as the place isn’t very big but the items on display are interesting.
06 July 2022 14:50
A nice museum to visit. They need to open up all exhibits and have some interactive screens and audio players.
22 May 2022 5:57
A nice little museum but little to see.

Took me about 30 mins to complete, if you are old or can't read might take you an hour.

There is an outstanding collection of broken bowls supposedly from someone's kitchen 400-500 years ago. If you like broken crockery you'll love this place. To also inform guests of the rich UAE history and culture there's a boat and a load of mannequins wearing face masks.

The guard will ask you to complete a satisfaction survey before leaving.

Worth a visit, I spose.

Amazing place. Though a small place, helps reflect the rich heritage of UAE. On a Saturday afternoon, we had the entire museum to ourselves. How often does that happen?
27 February 2022 9:42
A great place to check out and learn about the nations history and culture. The ticket costs 5/- dhs. You are greatest with traditional tea and coffee, sorry I don't remember the name the security guard told me. There are many different phases to go thru. The variety so things on display date back wake before you can imagine. Be patient and go thru all the different stops on the way. History at it's best, with guided information. You will be surprised to know the culture and history. The place is peaceful and quit even after being in the centre of the city. A must do if you visit RAK. There are washrooms available and sitting area if you are tired. No time limit, so you can just enjoy your self and get in touch with history.

It's gives an ancient vibe and how the Arabs of rak lived in past.
The museum is not that big but it's worth a visit. You can find antequities, ancient vases, fishing and hunting tools and many more. Bring your kids so they become exposed to our ancient history!
Ras Al Khaimah National Museum Ticket Price: AED 5 for adults AED 2 for children

The Emirate of the UAE, known for it's historic architectural remains and beautiful natural tourist spots, Ras al Khaimah, offers this magnificent return to the past at the National museum. Just at the expense of AED 5, you can travel through different time periods in the Arab civilization. We were welcomed by the courteous staff with a cup of traditional Arabic coffee/tea. How ancient is the association of Arabs to the date palm trees is beautifully demonstrated in a closed room by showing the traditional way of extracting date syrup.

Constructed using coral stones, this building gives a clear insight about the region's architecture of the past. It was the residence of the ruling family until 1964, which then became police headquarters and prison and later on, a museum. It is also a major defense structure in the old Ras al Khaimah town.

To study how did the architecture contribute to decrease the hot, humid living conditions in the past, you can visit here and see for yourself. The air-conditioning of the past with the tall rectangular towers are designed to catch the breeze and funnel it down to the room below. Also amazing is the dust- catching method by insulating the room ventilation with palm logs and coir.

The galleries inside exhibit the various architectural finds from different parts of the emirate, some of which have been lent to the Louvre Abudhabi museum too. The inner courtyard has benches to relax. The restrooms are well-maintained.

The hidden beauty of this place is the adventurous visit to the topmost viewing deck which can be accessed by climbing congested, wooden stairs (reminds of a visit back to old traditional houses of Kerala). If you are brave enough to climb these stairs, you are guaranteed by the extraordinary view of the whole of Ras al khaimah town from the sea to the mountains, in the company of an ancient canon. The picturesque beauty of the blue sky, the horizon and the turquoise sea promises a good catch for the photographer and the nature lover. Don't miss this unique experience!

The Ras Al-Khaimah National Museum is in a fort that was the residence of the ruling family up until the early 1960s.
The museum houses an excellent collection of archaeological and ethnological artifacts.
The Qawasim Room on the first floor is particularly interesting, with a collection of documents, manuscripts, and treaties between the rulers of Ras Al-Khaimah and Great Britain.
There are also exhibits of traditional weapons belonging to the ruling family, as well as archaeological displays about the earliest settlers in the area up to the late Islamic period.
The museum's ethnographic section introduces traditional life in the emirate, including architecture, pearl diving, date growing, farming, and fishing.
To learn more about the region, the Private Full-Day Tour of Ras Al-Khaimah delves into its cultural and historical sights, as well as showcasing its scenic coastal scenery, with plenty of photo stops along the most scenic parts of the Corniche and at the marina along the way. Major included sights are the museum, Dhayah Fort, and Jazirat al-Hamra. All transport including pickup and drop-off from Ras Al-Khaimah hotels is included.

Small museum, at the venue of an old fortress, giving a good idea how people used to live in these places.
Made out of traditional limestone, fossilized sand and corals (materials with no particular good structural but excellent insulation properties), it used to be a defense fort, the residence of the ruling Quwasim family and police headquarters before being turned into a museum in 1987.
In Aug 2021 significant parts of the museum were under renovation.
You can tour it in half an hour.
Entrance fee: 5 AED.
10 August 2021 10:04
Experience the history of Ras Al Khaima. Entrance is just 5AED. There are several parts, such archeology, Majlis, windtower and garden in the fort. Always nice to learn more about local culture. On Fridays it opens from 2pm.

Our favorite museum in UAE. A great many artifacts in addition to the traditional room settings.one of the unique aspects is the use of mannequins in traditional dress. The date room is also very interesting to see how molasses is made. Definitely worth a return trip.
22 February 2021 17:33
Staff is very polite.
Museum management is trying the best to maintain it.
New section is also under development.
Place also give you lot of information on ancient history of RAK.

A quiet little place. Few archeological displays, some local culture and a spiritual tolerance display. That's about all. Most of the area is being improved.
Accessibility is not easy. Not visible as a prominent place.

I am always fascinated by the history of a country.
If you go through the museum, you will get to know everything about Arabs, their culture and their life.
A must visit place
Charge is AED5 per person!

It's a beautiful and quiet museum. At one point, I was the only guy inside the museum and some staff. I spent 2.5 hours there but it's not enough. There's so much to explore. I climbed to the top of the museum and it offered a stunning view. Staff is very friendly.
Tip: They give you Arabic coffee to try - you can have as much as you want.
31 January 2020 10:08
Historical Site to understand RAS Al Khaimah's Journey in 20 minutes. Welcome drinks are self served Arabic, tea & Coffee. Some sections of the site are under renovation.
26 January 2020 8:39
Only 5 aed to access the museum.
The area is under renovation so there were lot of rooms closed.
Must visit if you are interested to know how they used to live and also if you want to see archaeology section.
There was also a collection of old and luxury cars outside of the museum.

—-
05 January 2020 2:48
What a waste of time, such a disappointing experience. The fort is still being ' modernised ' which defeats the object of admiring an old fort. Exhibits are few and far between, most rooms are empty, I would recommend NOT going until at least 2021 as so much work needs doing to this ' museum ' (certainly a lot of poetic license used to call this place a museum!)
5 Dirhams to get in and an hour drive from Dubai.the pictures shown virtually show everything you will see here, even the obscure Arabian manikins at the entrance.
One to miss in my opinion!
02 January 2020 23:10
Good for a one timer. Nothing extensive but if you got some time to cut. Might wanna check this out.

Most of the area are going under rennovation and stuff for now as well.
24 December 2019 14:07
Really nice museum. Not very extensive but it has a good historical overview of the area. Definitely worth the time.
23 November 2019 3:03
I never knew, Ras al Khaimah has rich history, highly recommended to visit Museum as they have very well explained
11 November 2019 3:24
Do you know what happens when you leave a child in a candy store? The same goes with this museum for an archaeologist. The history that goes back 5,000 to 6,000 years, the bones, the tools, the jewellery made from simple items that we take for granted. The museum also gives its visitors an inside view on how the Ruler of the Emirate lived, since it also was used as a meeting room where the ruler met the people. Two to three hours will be sufficient to enjoy this museum.
