Nice and calm place for day out with family and kids. Must visit place in northern emirates

This location is a great learning experience for hikers. Behind the dam, there is the highest peak in the area, and thanks to the UAE tourism department, 650 stairs have been built to climb to the top. For new hikers or enthusiasts, it's advisable to bring snacks and water for the hike. The ascent takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes, while the descent takes 30 to 25 minutes or less.

Amazing Location, 1 hour & 20 minutes from RAK. Ideal for BBQ or cooking as lots of space around. Public washrooms and huts also available. Few shops are there for us to buy essentials.

Visited this Amazing Place with Kids during Eid Holiday. This Place with Multiple Attractions like Children Play Area, Greeny Sittting Area to relax, Dedicated Place for BBQ with Seating Arrangement, Then Most of the People visit here for Hiking.where proper safe way for Hiking the mountain surround the Dam. One of the Must Visit Place with Family n Kids. A Small Mosque Available with Sanitary Facilities. Only the Bad thing is the Toilets Are not properly Cleaned. Dont See any Cleaning guys out there. Hope the Management will take necessary arrangement in future to keep a Team for regular cleaning. Other the that it's very Nice Place.

It's a very peaceful and picnic place, there's kids playground, top mountain views, dam view and nice green grass ground seating place. Treat to visit such a beautiful area.

Wadi Shawka (literally 'powerful wadi') in the Hajar Mountains of Ras Al Khaimah, Famous locally for the Shawka Dam, a perfect destination to recharge your mind and soul away from hustle and bustle of city. One of my favorite spot in the cool weather of UAE and the best part its so beautifully maintained with the facility of kids park, washroom, pray area and tuc shop. The best part you can enjoy all this for free

Amazing place. Be prepared to be in a isolated, quiet and under the stars place. Bring ample water and burning fuel and wood. Road is a bit off road as well. For people who are driving

Good place for hiking, a bit challenging at times. One should carry water n something to eat so that u can stop at the sitting area built at certain stops n relax a bit. I started my hike from the road just before reaching the round about to the Dam. It was a long hike, took me 3 hrs n I ended up on the other side of the Dam. Just follow the track. There were people camping there which was a relief to see them, as I had gone for hiking alone. After coming down from the mountain it was 30/45 minutes walk towards the road. I hitchhiked from there and reached to where I had parked my car. People were very helpful. Next time inshaallah I’ll carry more water. It was weekend so lot of families camping in and around the Dam. Had a great time, beautiful valley n giant mountain, lovely weather. Had a wonderful experience. Oh before I forget, from the parking area they r making steps to go up to the top of the mountain, that would be. Thank you

A short drive from dubai, this wadi has a small flowing stream and offers a serene getaway from the hustle of city life. You can find a few camp spots and campers on weekends. Additionally you'll sometimes come across camels in the day and frogs in the night. If you come here don't leave any trash behind as I saw a few people do.

Nice hike thru the wadi, easy to get to, water not always present.had to wade thru pool on our way back.
